In case the internet gets shut down
I am not the most computer literate person so I have a question. Is there a way to save/download whole forums. Between this forum and a few others I would love to find a way to do this. Thanks in advance.

Re: In case the internet gets shut down
One easy way would be to Highlight, Copy and Paste good stuff to the bottom of a series of word processor documents organized by topic. Call it an e-scrapbook project. Store it on a Jumpdrive or other portable media. If you burn to CDs, use a reputable brand, because not all of them use proper magnetic oxide, and the quality can degrade after a couple of years.
I like to print editorials for ease of reading. I used to throw them out, but now keep them in binders. Printed records last longer than electronic media. Family albums and other historical documents deserve protection. |

The best way would be to have a copy of the database. And I asked like a year ago if it would be possible to get a copy, but since it contains usernames, passwords and ip addresses of everyone here the short answer was "no"

I'm not 100% sure if it works on sql based forums like this one, but you may as well give it a shot. For everything I've ever backed up, it's worked perfectly. I've never archived a forum though. |
